On Monday 24 students from Y12 went on a visit to the University of Worcester to have a look around at the facilities and courses on offer. Worcester is a campus based university and home to over 10,000 students. It offers courses in Education, Health and Society, Humanities and Creative Arts, Science and the Environment, Business and Sport and Exercise Science. The facilities are modern and yet the whole campus has a homely feel to it. Its sporting facilities are outstanding, the main sports venue can play host to major sporting activities and seat 2000 spectators.
The Pearson Study Centre is open 24/7 and provides an inviting workspace geared for student’s needs. The Students Union hosts a shop, café and bar which hosts a wide range of activities from quizzes, bands and party nights. Students were able to find out what life might be like as a student, from how they would be taught, contact hours, assessment deadlines and the consequences of missing them- you only get a D minus!
Worcester drew a mixed reaction from our students, some loved it and will seriously consider it as one of their options others were not so impressed. This university will not suit everyone, which is why it is vital to do your own research first, in both investigating the courses themselves and having a look around the university, its facilities and its campus. Open days are coming up for most universities so start that research now and narrow down your choices, allowing you to visit and see if it is right for you.Back to News
