Tuesday saw students from Y10 and Y12 visit The Skills and Apprenticeship Show. On show were a diverse range of courses from Wolverhampton College. Their students were on hand to talk about the courses they were doing, these ranged from Hair and Beauty, Childcare, Food, Bricklaying, Mechanics, Engineering and Music Technology to name but a few. There was a big display by the Armed Forces and the Ambulance service showcasing their apprenticeships. Major employers such as Jaguar Landrover, Moog, UTC, NHS, Barclays and Aldi all had stands and were eager to talk about the apprenticeships and opportunities they had to offer.
Students were also able to take part in ‘ have a go’ sessions which ranged from building a brick wall, changing a wheel on a car, icing cakes, racing model cars, using engineering skills to build spinners. The Ambulance service was also showing students First aid skills and how to carry out resuscitation using the manikins.
All in all a brilliant morning, our students gained loads of information which will help them make important decisions in the future.
