In the run up to Christmas, Pool Hayes students across the key stages have been learning about Christmas traditions in Spain and the Spanish speaking world. This week, our resident native speaker, Ms. Vila-Parcerisa, who hails from Catalonia, has brought in a Caga Tió, or to us English speakers, a poop log! The tradition is to look after the log, keep him nice and warm, feed him (mandarins are his favourite!) and hopefully he’ll poop out presents (most often turrón). If he doesn’t poop out presents, you beat him with a stick while singing a song to him, then he manages to magically produce these gifts. ¡Feliz Navidad para todo el mundo!
