Pool Hayes enjoyed yet another extremely successful ski holiday to Zell am See in Austria over the Easter break. Despite a longer than anticipated journey due to traffic jams we still arrived at the resort early evening on the Saturday in time to check in and collect our equipment from the ski hire shop.
The Academy enjoyed five amazing days skiing in the Austrian Alps where we were spoilt for Easter skiing with bluebird skies and lots of crisp snow which is very rare for so late in the ski season. All the ski runs boasted breath-taking views of the snow capped mountains and the beautiful lake below your feet.
All pupils took to skiing like a duck to water and by day 3 all pupils could ski competently and got to experience skiing over 3000m on a glacier, where the snow was in mint condition.
It was a non-stop adventure with skiing all day and lots of evening entertainments including bowling and watching the ice hockey tournament, pizza night with an XL pizza each!! and shopping in the beautiful town of Zell. A lot of the pupils mentioned one of the highlights of the trip was the unforgettable experience of watching the sun go down over the mountains in the heated outside pools in the Tauern spa.
I was very proud of how all the pupils improved over the week and in particular their conduct and attitude, which was commented on by the bus drivers, instructors and hotel staff. They were a true pleasure to take away.
Particular mentions should go to Jerome Parsley and Amy Kempson for the most improved skiers throughout the week.
Keep your eyes and ears open for next years ski trip.
